The psoas is the only muscle in your body that connects your low back to your thigh, and it plays a big part in posture and the alignment of your low back. In spite of its importance, it remains a mystery to most yoga students. After looking at its anatomy, and gaining an understanding of its importance in posture, we will practice poses that strengthen and stretch the psoas. We will also look at how the psoas interacts with other important muscle groups, including the abdominals and hamstrings. All levels. Please bring a mat, block and strap.

If you don't use it, you lose it. This phrase is especially true for shoulder flexibility, and if you've lost it, you will struggle in many yoga poses. Following a brief look at the anatomy of the shoulder and how it moves, we will practice stretches to open your shoulders. We will also discuss which stretches will help which poses: for example, the shoulder opening you need for bridge pose is very different from the opening for downward dog pose. All levels. Please bring a mat, strap, blanket and block.
