Ayurveda, the Science of Life, Health and Longevity, is based upon the belief that each and every one of us has a unique psychophysical makeup. The entire manifested Universe is made up of the 5 elements and when we apply the qualities of these elements to our individual human systems, we group them into functional principles called doshas: vata, pitta and kapha. This is called the Tridoshic Theory.
In this workshop we will look at the interplay of doshas in our lives and how they indicate to us what type of treatment is necessary to cure imbalance. In Ayurveda, health means balance in body, mind and spirit. Diet and digestion play a huge role and we will examine food combining, general ways to improve digestion, and how the 6 taste categories of food pacify the doshas. Lifestyle habits – when we go to sleep, where we work and socialize, what type of exercise we enjoy, yogic practices, etc. – can have a profound effect on our health. Wear comfortable clothing so you can move with us as we explore some of these categories. Seasonal cleanses and herbs are vital aspects of any Ayurvedic approach to health and will be touched upon in this workshop as well.
